Members of the “Olimpikas” Association set off on a short exploratory walk through summer meadows to gather herbs, wildflowers and plants. They then carefully dried them between the pages of books. This traditional method preserves the beauty of nature and prepares materials for creative projects. The dried plants will be used for pictures, postcards, decorations and other artistic and educational activities that preserve the colours and scents of summer. The activity encourages creative self expression, care, patience and imagination. It also fosters respect for nature and helps participants notice the smallest details in a flower or blade of grass. Members also recalled how many plants found in Lithuania have long been used for decoration, folk medicine, customs and celebrations.
We believe that every flower or blade of grass we preserve will, in the future, become a meaningful part of our shared creative endeavours, strengthening our sense of community, nurturing Lithuanian traditions and reminding us that the greatest beauty often lies in the simple wonders of nature. 🌼💚
